Mt. Vernon Rams:
Football vs. Centralia Orphans

It was rivalry week in the South Seven as the Mt. Vernon Rams welcomed the Centralia Orphans on senior night! It was also Pink Out Night as the Rams wore special Pink Out Jerseys to honor cancer survivors, fighters and the fallen. Both teams punched each other in the mouth out of the gate, but the Rams would prevail with the big win in their home finale!

WMIX Sports Basketball Showcase (Boys):
Woodlawn Cardinals vs. Sesser-Valier Red Devils

In a rematch of the 2010 Salem Super-Sectional, the Woodlawn Cardinals hoped to make the Sesser-Valier Red Devils their victim for a 7th straight regional championship. After a loss to Woodlawn a few weeks prior, the Red Devils hoped to get another postseason win over the Cards. After a hot start, the Red Devils finished off the Cardinals.


WMIX Sports Basketball Showcase (Girls):
Wayne City Lady Indians vs. Goreville Blackcats

The Wayne City Lady Indians looked for their first ever sectional title, while the Goreville Lady Blackcats hoped for a 4th straight. After an early lead for Wayne City, Goreville battled back to keep things close. Eventually, the game would go to overtime and Wayne City would creep back on top--only to see Goreville get a layup with 6 seconds left to win by 1, 41-40. Instant classic!


Special Coverage:
Webber Trojans Baseball - 2014 State Finals

After an emotional 5-4 win in 10 innings in the state semifinals, the Webber Trojans had to find the energy to win the state championship game. Faced against the Illinois Lutheran Chargers, the Trojans would find their toughest challenge. Ultimately, the Chargers toppled Webber 12-2 in 6 innings earning the Trojans the 2nd place trophy! Congratulations, Trojans, on making history!
