Mt. Vernon Rams:
Baseball vs. Highland

The Mt. Vernon Rams had hoped their 4th Sectional Championship Appearance in 6 seasons would net their 2nd Elite 8. They started out with a 4-0 lead, but couldn't hold it against the tough Highland Bulldogs who rallied for the come-from-behind win. Highland would eventually win the state championship.


Mt. Vernon Lady Rams:
Softball at Carbondale

The Mt. Vernon Lady Rams found themselves at SIU for the first game of the regional. After a late schedule change due to the weather, the Lady Rams had a familiar postseason foe, the Carbondale Terriers. After forging a 3-3 tie, the Terriers added some offense for a 6-4 win to end the Lady Rams upset hopes and their season with a 16-17 record.


WMIX Sports Basketball Showcase (Boys):
Sesser-Valier vs. Meridian

The Sesser-Valier Red Devils traveled to the Hardin County Sectional and met the Meridian Bobcats. Unfortunately for the Red Devils their hopes of a sectional championship were dashed by the Bobcats.


WMIX Sports Basketball Showcase (Girls):
Wayne City vs. Galatia

For a third season in a row, a 1A Regional Championship would culminate with Wayne City and Galatia-Thompsonville tangling for the title. It was G-T in 2013 and Wayne City in '14. Wayne City controlled most of the game, but the Lady Cats pulled away in the fourth for their second regional in three seasons.

Special Olympics Basketball

The Mt. Vernon Rams and Mt. Vernon Mavericks squared off in the FIRST ANNUAL Fill the Stands for Special Olympics night at Changnon Gymnasium. Both teams put their best offense on display in this fast-paced challenge. What an atmosphere with a great crowd, cheerleaders, Rockin' Rams, MV Drumline, MV Pep Band, and more!
