Mt. Vernon Rams:
Baseball vs. Henderson County Colonels

After a disappointing Good Friday, Mt. Vernon Rams Baseball looked to Easter Eve to get back on the winning track in the McCracken County Baseball Invitational. After getting 2 early runs, the Rams found ways to score on the way to a 7-0 win against Henderson County (KY) at historic Brooks Stadium in Paducah, KY.


Mt. Vernon Lady Rams:
Softball at Olney (East Richland Tigers)

After disappointment in the first week of the season, the Mt. Vernon Lady Rams hoped a road trip to Olney would get them back to winning ways. A quick 4 runs in the first made it seem the Lady Rams would roll, but the Lady Tigers had other ideas. It was close, but MV fell 9-8.


WMIX Sports Basketball Showcase (Boys):
Woodlawn Cardinals vs. Sesser-Valier Red Devils

In a rematch of the 2010 Salem Super-Sectional, the Woodlawn Cardinals hoped to make the Sesser-Valier Red Devils their victim for a 7th straight regional championship. After a loss to Woodlawn a few weeks prior, the Red Devils hoped to get another postseason win over the Cards. After a hot start, the Red Devils finished off the Cardinals.


WMIX Sports Basketball Showcase (Girls):
Wayne City Lady Indians vs. Goreville Blackcats

The Wayne City Lady Indians looked for their first ever sectional title, while the Goreville Lady Blackcats hoped for a 4th straight. After an early lead for Wayne City, Goreville battled back to keep things close. Eventually, the game would go to overtime and Wayne City would creep back on top--only to see Goreville get a layup with 6 seconds left to win by 1, 41-40. Instant classic!

It's Friday! It's Game Day! Watch the Mt. Vernon Rams Football Seniors parody the Geico Hump Day national television spots prior to homecoming week. Coach Troy Medvick and Head Coach Jared Shaner have cameo appearances in this "spot" from the campus of Mount Vernon Township High School in Illinois.
